Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

Need volunteers?

I need volunteers for my nonprofit organization. Would New York Cares partner with us?

New York Cares partners with over 1,100 nonprofits and agencies throughout the five boroughs. In order to become a Community Partner, you must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or a public entity like a school or park. Additionally, New York Cares can only send volunteers to organizations for hands-on, team-based projects. We cannot assist with fundraising or office support. Also, please note that as a nonprofit with limited resources ourselves, New York Cares is unfortunately not always able fulfill all requests for volunteers. If you’re interested in becoming a Community Partner, you can apply online.

How quickly can you start a volunteer project for my organization?

We require a minimum of 6-8 weeks to plan a project, identify Team Leaders and recruit volunteers. This process can sometimes take longer, so we encourage you to get started as far in advance as possible.

As we work with our Community Partners in response to COVID-19, this timeline can be expedited. Learn more about becoming a Community Partner during our response to COVID-19.

How much does it cost to have a New York Cares project?

Nothing – all of our partnerships with nonprofit organizations come at no cost. We even cover supplies!

Does New York Cares offer any other resources to nonprofit organizations?

Absolutely! In addition to providing volunteers, New York Cares also sends coats during our Coat Drive, maintain donation referral lists, and runs volunteer management trainings – among many other programs. Browse all of our opportunities on our Community Partners page.
